How long will my flasher wrasses hide?
I have 3 filamented flasher wrasses (all female) that arrived via overnight shipment 3 days ago. I gently aclimatized them to the water of my 55-gal tank. They are all alive, and even eat well when I inject food via tube right next to them. But they won’t come out from the tiny crevasses where they’ve sequestered themselves. (They must move some, since at least 2 of them appear in new hiding places from time to time, but I’ve never seen them swimming). And as far as I’ve seen, they have not been the victims of bullying by any other members of the tank community (a few chromises, a cinnamon clown, a coral beauty, a few pajama cardinals, and various invertebrates).
Does this sound normal? Do I just have to be patient, or should I be worried and/or doing something different?
I’d just give them time, sorry I don’t have any saltwater tanks, but from what I have heard about these filamented flasher wrasses, they are a very timid fish. I hear that they are a very active fish, but if you rearrange any thing in the tank or add anything, they will hide for a day just to come back out and check out what you have done, or to size up the new arrival. Also I have heard that someone with these fish rearranged the furniture in the room the tank is in and the wrasse hid all day, but then timidly came back out to check everything out. So I wouldn’t worry, they are just timid and adjusting to the new surroundings. Good luck with your fish, they are very beautiful and should make a good addition to your tank.
Sugar-free gum, that’s gastrointestinally friendly?
I had a friend ask me about sugar free gum. Shes on a diet and doesnt want to go with anything too high in calories/overall energy. But shes got a sensitive digestion system. Anyone got any information that might help? I’ve come up with this much:
She had mentioned wanting to know about sugars in sugarfree gum and trying to avoid laxitive like sweeteners. There are only few gums that dont use them.
Sorbital, used as a laxitive-sugarfreegum (orbit, extra, basically almost everything)
Maltitol, laxitive- if anything, worse than sorbitol (Eclipse)
Sodium alginate(gum), maltodextrin(atypical sweetener), ECLIPSE FLASH, winterfrsh thin ice, should be good, low energy
Xylitol, altoids sugarfree gum(cinnamon only!!), some brand named SPRY very good for you, 2/3’s energy of sugar. Not so diet friendly
I recommended the eclipse flash or winterfresh thin ice. The Sugarfree cinnamon altoids uses a sweetener that is in particular very good for you, but not as diet friendly.
I would advise your friend that the average calorie content of a stick of gum is 7 Calories and that 2 minutes of walking would burn 7 Calories.
